I don't like following trends, and being a mature student tend to march to beat of my own drummer. I primarily like to focus on nature and landscape photography, but also throughly enjoy anything related to the magical or mystical. I use a mix of digital and analog styles and techniques, and especially enjoy aging techniques in the darkroom for that vintage Victorian look. Most of my images could be described as a mix of commercial and fine art photography.
My final project is really going full circle as it is an improved version of the first project I took on at Birmingham City University. Fairies aren't as much a part of popular culture as they once were, but they still inspire a bit of fun and magic. Romantic and nostalgic images were what I had in mind for my fairy door project, but decided to give it a modern twist by recreating the look in Photoshop rather than the darkroom.
While I tend to focus on idealized versions of reality, or creating all new ones, I am also able to convert this into a more subtle angle in mainstream commercial photography.
