Through traveling to many places I am inspired to influence others of what I have experienced. Trying to capture the feel and atmosphere of a place in my illustrations so that the viewer can feel like they're seeing the place itself.
Artists' Book allows me to have a varied way in which to put across these experiences and this is generally the format I choose to work in, as well as individual pieces that can stand strong on their own.
I work in printmaking, using both drypoint and silk screen to translate through fine line detail and block colour the feel of a place that has stayed strong even once I've left. This technique of contrasting line detail and block colour works well in both printmaking techniques as a fine line is achievable in both, and the use on chine colle with drypoint allows me to target areas for colour as you can in silk screen.
