Nathan Monk
During my last year at university I set up Birmingham's first online font foundry which now deals in exclusive typeface's and limited edition typographic goods. This is called Font Lorry.
In my second year of university I co-founded a creative team called 'SMILE'. We have worked with a variety of clients ranging from small local businesses to global multi-national partnership's.
For my final project I chose to develop SMILE along with my two partners (Matt Lees and Susan Coles) into a design studio based in Birmingham. We knew that marketing would be key to the success of this project. We devised a strategy that incorporated print, web and event based publicity.
On May 15th 2009, we held a launch event for our studio which is located in Eastside, Birmingham.
I have recently been awarded the Louisa Anne Ryland Travelling Scholarship for the work I have submitted during my studies at BIAD.
