My specialism is in Branding & Identity, and more specifically, my final project centred around lifestyle branding. Over the last three years I have undertaken freelance design & branding work for local bands, events and small businesses. I also teach Interactive Media and digital design skills at Hybrid Arts, an alternative education provider. My students are young people who do not always benefit from the mainstream educational system. I currently provide poster, website, branding and other design services to clients including Hybrid Arts.
In 2006, I came 3rd in an E4 animation competition with my first attempt at animating in Flash. Last Summer I undertook a one week placement at Notion Studio in Digbeth, and my work is still in use on a commercial website. This year I was nominated for the 181 Trevor Award for Branding.
I began my design education in a Multimedia setting, and so have skills in HTML, Photoshop, and creating Flash content. The journey from these beginnings towards competence in graphic design principles has been a challenging learning curve. In particular, my final project greatly improved my understanding of the discipline, particularly in Typography.
I look forward to continuing to learn and challenge myself in a design-focused environment.
